What is the definition of "touring"?

Touring Engagement: Any engagement outside the artist’s home community. This includes both “run-out” performances and longer, multi-engagement tours.

We do not set a limit as to what should be considered "outside the artist's home community" as it may vary from place to place.  The intent of the PennPAT program is to support performances that reach beyond the artist's home season audience.  Therefore, if the presenting organization is less than 50 miles from the artist's home community, as defined in their roster listing, then the presenter may try to make the case in their application that the artist will reach a new audience and should be considered a touring engagement.  The panelists reviewing the application will make the final assesment as to whether the applicant has convinced them.
