Rennie Harris Puremovement

Rennie Harris Puremovement (RHPM) is considered one of the the world’s best hip-hop dance companies and has toured nationally and internationally. The company encompasses the diverse and rich African-American traditions of the past while presenting the voice of new generations through ever-evolving interpretations of dance. RHPM creates a landscape of movement, rhythm, sound, and images to reflect the spiritual core of self and society and as a vehicle for uniting people and cultures. “Virtuosic… long columns of superlatives could only begin to suggest their dynamic kinetic and fresh appeal.” (The Washington Post)

Dance programs include a repertory program featuring new works; Facing Mekka, a landscape of movement, music and rhythm in which Rennie Harris performs his stunning solo “Lorenzo’s Oil”; Heaven, based on Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring;" and Something To Do With Love Vol 1, Harris’ newest work. Complementary activities include lecture/demonstrations and master classes, as well as working with residency participants to create a performance piece.
