The Brian Pastor Big Band

The Brian Pastor Big Band, founded in 1994, is a 17-piece jazz ensemble comprised of some of Philadelphia’s finest musicians. The band is noted for its exhilarating and diverse arrangements and original compositions. “…a swingin’ band that will make you smile,” commented The Philadelphia Orchestra trombonist Nitzan Haroz. From straight ahead jazz to funk, the band’s repertoire targets a following of all ages. “They cook!” noted WNJC radio host Norman W.E. Satchell,”…all the musicianship, excitement and force of a large band, with the flexibility of a small group.”

Concert programs feature selections from the CD “Common Men,” including original compositions and arrangements of jazz standards from Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Stan Kenton and more. Residency activities include workshops and clinics for school bands, master classes and classes in improvisation for all levels.
