Dave Burrell

Distinguished jazz pianist/composer Dave Burrell is a performing artist of singular stature on the international contemporary music scene. His dynamic compositions recall the jazz and blues traditions of Jelly Roll Morton, James P. Morgan and Duke Ellington. Burrell has over 115 recordings to his credit, including 30 under his own name. He was recently featured on National Public Radio’s Fresh Air, hosted by Terry Gross, and received the prestigious Pew Fellowship in Jazz Composition. The New Yorker called Burrell “a compelling composer and a daring, historically aware player.”

Solo piano performances include original compositions and the works of Duke Ellington, Jelly Roll Morton, John Coltrane, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, George Gershwin and Thelonius Monk. Residency activities include performance master classes, workshops and lecture/ demonstrations.

Tuned acoustic grand or upright piano. Floor microphone, monitor and piano amplification.

Fees

Performance fees $1,500-$2,500, plus expenses. Residency fees $500 per day.
