Piffaro, The Renaissance Band

World-renowned as the pied-pipers of Early Music and for highly polished performances, Piffaro, The Renaissance Band has delighted audiences throughout the United States, Europe, Canada and South America. The ensemble recreates the elegant sounds of the official professional wind bands of the late Medieval and Renaissance periods, as well as the rustic music of the peasantry. The Philadelphia Inquirer wrote, “An extraordinarily versatile group of musicians that turns on a dime to craft new musical worlds from Medieval and Renaissance sources.”

Touring repertoire includes “The London Waits,” wind music from Elizabethan England; “Flemish Masters,” a celebration of musical genius from the north; and “Nowell’s Delight,” a Renaissance Christmas celebration. Piffaro offers a variety of educational and outreach programs including school performances, week-long residencies and family concerts.
