Road to the Isles
Drawing from many generations of
piping, fiddling, folksong and lore,
Road to the Isles showcases the
traditional music and dance of Ireland
and Scotland. Reels, jigs and popular folk
songs blend for an authentic and
uplifting performance. Founder and
bagpiper George Balderose has
performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony
Orchestra, garnering accolades such as
“virtuosic” from The New York Times.
Of their recent CD, The Way Home, the
press wrote, “a top quality introduction
to genuine Scottish and Irish traditional
music,” (Common Stock, United
Kingdom) and “their musicianship
reflects the high-level training… [and]
experience of the ensemble’s members…”
(Piping Today, Scotland)
Concerts feature both Scottish and Irish
fiddle players, bagpipes, Irish flute,
guitar, vocals, stories and dancers.
Complementary activities include in-school concerts,
workshops featuring instrumental music
and traditional dances, lecture/
demonstrations and instrumental
master classes.
